Get a health Kick out of travel

Australia is riding the crest of a wave – a whole new approach to getting older. It is referred to as healthy ageing, active ageing and successful ageing. Whatever you like to call it, the cohort of baby boomers have no intention of ageing quietly and travel is forefront of their agenda.

Everyone loves to travel.  Trips provide new experiences, adventures, and memories that last a lifetime. However, not only is travel fun; it provides a variety of perhaps surprising personal and health benefits as well.

Travel is inherently a learning experience. Simply being outside your normal environment of home increases the travellers knowledge base, alertness and awareness of how the world is working.

If you are choosing to travel abroad, it will enhance your knowledge base even more by you allowing yourself to immerse into new cultures and even pick up some of the local lingo!

Travel and relaxation go hand in hand. Everyone needs time away from their normal environment to rejuvenate, and studies have shown that travel does indeed reduce stress. Importantly, it not only reduces stress immediately, but it also improves our ability to handle stress long after we return home.

Sometimes when we remove ourselves from our normal environment and routine, problems that seemed insurmountable now seem a lot smaller and much easier to overcome.

It’s common knowledge that travel helps to bring people together by building lifelong memories. You may have recently lost a partner and fear stepping out alone on any sort of trip. Then why not travel comfortably with a group of like-minded people?
Group travel provides security, companionship and is an easy way to begin your travelling adventures.

So what about this for an adventure to give your health a kick start…
Discover the treasures of Asia on the journey of a lifetime, and explore the wonders of Vietnam and Cambodia on a river cruise through the remote villages scattered along the banks of the Mekong River.

Untouched by mass tourism and inaccessible by most other means of transport, this experience allows you to experience the real Vietnam and Cambodia.

Traverse the Mekong River between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Siem Reap, and become immersed in the ebb and flow of daily life along the waterway’s banks. You will think you’ve awoken to be living within an episode of National Geographic!

While your onshore experiences are guaranteed to excite you, your time on-board the RV La Marguerite will be truly special. Wake up every morning in your elegant cabin, and perhaps head out to the Sun Deck to enjoy a tea or coffee or you can take a break from it all with a massage in the ship’s spa.

All included sumptuous meals are another highlight of your Mekong River cruise, and you’ll enjoy a variety of local dishes and Western fare. Complimentary international wine is served with lunch and dinner, while soft drink, beer and spirits are available all day in the Saigon Lounge & Bar.

If you’re after an adventure close to home that still provides great value for money and offers up ever-changing vistas, enriching experiences and genuine opportunities to engage with local life, then a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia is perfect for you.
